Victor Tan

A professional sculptor since he graduated in 1998, Victor has firmly established his place within the art scene with his chosen medium, wire. His work is characterised by the use of wire and he pioneered the first wire public sculpture in Singapore in 1998. Without using any equipment of adhesive, he employs a highly skilled method of weaving the wires to form sculptures strong enough to stand on their own. Unlike traditional concepts of sculpture as a solid mass, carved down or built up, his line works carve into the spaces, creating forms that draw weight from the space itself.
